To address the heat issue with the 1080 ACX cooler, EVGA have designed a new ICX cooler. You can independently control each fan on the cooler, one to cool the VRM and one for the GPU. Also lots of improvements to the back plate and thermal pads.

 

In addition, a fuse has been added to the PCB, so it will blow before anything nasty happens to other components. 

 

EVGA are also saying that even if you are beyond the step up program you will still be able to step up to the 1080 with ICX cooler for $90.
