Networked AS16 = Performance?

Recommended Posts

Hi all-

Does networking AS16 to a separate PC yield a noticeable performance increase? Also, server/client OSes need to be the same, that is, Win10/Win10 or can there be a release difference such as Win10/Win7?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Hello Mark,

The OS version does not need to be the same on the server and client for a networked configuration (both must be a Windows OS though). By offloading the AS client to another machine you will get slightly better performance but with the amount of processing power available today I personally do not see a benefit of moving to a networked configuration any more. I had run with this setup in the past but with the amount of power you can get in the latest generation of processors the gains aren't even noticeable anymore. Please see the links below on the subject. The second link is a general guide on setting up SimConnect in a networked environment that I have found very helpful if you have not attempted this type of configuration before.
