ADV Display problem

Featured Replies

I have this problem when using the ADV display window in FS. As you can see in the attachment, when opening the ADV display window, anything below it is obscured. This happens both docked and undocked.I found that if I reduce my anti-aliasing settings in my NVidia 7800 card to anything but 8x then it solves this problem. However if I set the antialiasing settings to application controlled, I get jagged edges.Does anybody know how I can get the ADV display to work properly and have a maximum anti-aliasing setting?I have the NVidia 7800 GT graphics card with the 81.98 drivers.BenThis is the problem...http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/137791.jpg

I don't have your problem and have AA set at 8x's. Must be a problem with your video card or drivers. I have an ATI PCIe video card and it may only be a problem with NVIDIA cards. Jim

Ben,I and a lot of other people had this identical problem with Squawkbox3. The good news is I fixed it. The bad news is I don't know what caused it yet and you may not like my solution. To cure it I reformatted my hardrive and reloaded only windows XP pro, fs2004, and squawkbox3. I am now in the process of one by one reinstalling my add-ons and checking squawkbox to see if I can find the culprit. At this time I don't know if it was caused by another add-on or a problem with my previous system build. My system is a Pentium 3.0, MSI 865pe mobo, 1 gig ram, and XFX 6800gt. I just wanted to let you know that it can be fixed. One other thing I found out with my card, I can not run any of the 80 series drivers and use two monitors in dualview. These drivers yielded corrupted graphics on the second monitor and an eventual computer lockup. I am currently using the 78.05 drivers.Good Luck, Ted

Similar problem but with FSPassengers with the 81.98 drivers. As someone posted in another thread, make AA application controlled and check AA ON in FS. That worked for me. There is NO reason to go to the extreme of reformatting your hard drive.

Ben,The fact that the problem is solved when you choose less than the maximum AA surely gives you the answer? Later or alternative drivers may resolve the problem but until then stay away from max AA.Cheers,

I've rolled back to the 77.77 drivers with max AA, but it didn't solve the problem.I then tried turning AA to application controlled, and turning it on in FS, but when I opened the ADV display. I got jagged edges everywhere.I'm going to try it on 4 x AA. It's not ideal, but I guess until someone gets their act together it will have to do.
