March 19, 20179 yr HELLO ALL FLIGHT KMIA-KMCO. ADDONS USED EZDOK, ULTIMATE TRAFFIC, ASN, REX TEXTURE DIRECT. ROUTE KMIA HEDLY J53 PHK KMCO. SID RW26L BSTER 2 TRANS=HEDLY, STAR RW18R GOOFY6 TRANS=PHK. THE LAST 5 WAYPOINTS OF THE PLAN ARE ODDEL-VECTORS-HAMMY-TUFFE-RW18R. I CHOOSE TO OVERWRITE VECTORS WITH HAMMY. EVERYTHING IS LOADED PROPERLY IN THE FMC AND ALSO VISIBLE ON THE NAV DISPLAY BUT THE FLIGHT PURPLE LINE ON THE ND DISPLAY GOES STRAIGHT FROM ODDEL TO RW18R. ALL THE WAYPOINTS ARE THERE AND VISIBLE BUT THE PLANE CHOOSES TO GO FROM ODDEL STRAIGHT TO THE RUNWAY. CAN THIS BE EXPLAINED? I ALSO OWN 777 AND THERE THE LINE GOES THROUGH ALL THE WAYPOINTS AS IT SHOULD. IN OTHER WORDS THE QUEEN DOES NOT FOLLOW THE APPROACH LEGS THE WAY THEY ARE LOADED. I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE AN ANSWER http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshotsv2/image/GVAo http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshotsv2/image/GVA7 George Katsimpanis
March 19, 20179 yr I think the FMC is actually trying to draw a line from ODDEL to HAMMY to TUFFY and then to 18R, but it simply can't. Flying straight from ODDEL to HAMMY to TUFFY and then land on 18R is (in my opinion, but who am I) simply impossible. I think the only solution would be to create a PBD waypoint if you want to remove the vectors. Marc
March 19, 20179 yr Author The thing is that on the PMDG 777 that i also own the same approach is loaded properly, it even creates a small turn circle to HAMMY in order to intercept correctly with the flight plan path. George Katsimpanis
March 19, 20179 yr The "vectors" entry is there for a reason. You are descending to the airport from the south, and have selected an ILS approach with an IAF north of the airport. In an actual flight, ATC would vector you on a downwind leg, (probably to the east of KMCO) until you are past the airport a sufficient distance to turn left to intercept the ILS. In the sim, without ATC, you can self-vector by choosing Heading Select to depart from ODELL on a 360 degree heading (as shown in the STAR chart), while monitoring your position relative to the airport on the NAV display. Once you are past the airport, and parallel to HAMMY, upselect HAMMY to the top of your LEGS page and reselect LNAV, and it should turn you towards the waypoint so you can intercept the localizer. When you try to connect ODELL directly to HAMMY, you are asking the FMS to calculate a 180 degree course reversal, at a point far ahead of your current position, which I don't think is possible in the 747. The 777 FMS is a newer design, and might be able to handle it, but I'm pretty sure that the the real 747 FMS cannot do that. Whenever you see "VECTORS" on your legs page, prepare to use Heading Select to manually maneuver the aircraft to a position in relation to the next waypoint where you can resume using LNAV.
