C-130 ranges

Featured Replies

Hi all,Happy New year (bit late but still...it is for me I just got back home).I am trying to find info on the net about the range of the C-130 but havn't had much luck. All the info contradicts (spelling?) one another.I would like to fly from LAX to HNL and PPG and then Auckland, the longest leg here is 2268nm. Do any varients of the C-130 have this range?I found some old pacific plotting charts at work and thought that it would be great fun to fly great circle using the plotting chart and a sextant add-on for FS that I found. I was thinking of doing it in Captain Sims C130 as it a cool aircraft (and I really like the realistic products, but I'm bored of Boeings). Problem is as I said the range.Anyone able to help?thanks folks.

Hi, I think the "J" model (which is offered by CS) will make that leg, but you're better off posting this question in the CS C130 forums as there is a lot of real world C130 experience over there. There are a lot of factors in making a trans-ocenaic flight, and with the Herc, real world militaries have specific rules and ops that apply. Definately post this in their forum, you'll be pleasantly suprised with the amount of experience there. Here's the link:http://www.captainsim.net/yabb2/YaBB.plJeffEdited for my terrible grammar.
