With FSX coming and after adding many things to FS9 I would like to know if it is possible to have two versions installed. I have an empty 20gig hd that I could put FSX on.

Most likely yes (unless FSX does something really unusual). Right now you can easily use fs2002 and 2004 on the same PC with no problems. It is only really a matter of disk space.
