I use a Saitek AV8R-01 joystick for FSX; Windows 7, 64bit. Sim worked well with Saitek yoke/pedals/throttle quadrant and worked well with the AV8R-01 for a bit. Now, however, keeping it calibrated is an ongoing effort. The X axis eventually goes right of center. Test and calibrate through FSX works for awhile, sometimes just rapidly moving the X axis between its limits will "fix" it for a bit. I've gone into devices and unchecked the "link deadzones" box and then bracketed the X axis indicator, etc. It works too, for a bit but the issue is that the X axis is almost constantly fluctuating back and forth - sometimes quite a bit - and the brackets have to be too big to contain it. Does this indicate a worn out stick?

Could be worn out, but it sounds more like the X axis pot is dirty.  A spray of contact cleaner will be a good solution... might just as well do the Y axis pot while you're there.

Greg
