Postsunset and Predawn Texture usage

Here is a question for those smarter than I.

I have been trying out the many textures that are available from http://1coder.ru/SKY/index.html which are very nice. However it seems P3Dv4 is not using all 10 postsunset textures. It seems to only use the first texture (sky_postsunset2_0) from after sunset all the way to just after midnight which is when the midnight textures kicks in. 

For example I like Set Rime (sky_postsunset2) textures as this gives a nice long sunset and I use Set_MyVFR midnight textures for a darker night. Problem is that after the sun sets there is no gradual change to darkness. I would have assumed these 10 postsunset2 textures are used for a gradual darkness (I think) but I only need to change the first texture in the group (sky_postsunset2_0) which effects the entire evening lighting until the Midnight textures are used. (around midnight)

Anyone have any idea if P3D uses all these textures as time passes from say texture 0 to 9?

I'm guessing my question is as clear as mud.
