VRAM
Iceman2 replied to Iceman2's topic in Virtual Reality (VR) for Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)I watched a video about DLSS4 and preset K settings in the Nvidia APP. Doing that fixed everything for me. Smooth sky’s again.

VRAM
Quick question for the smarter than me people. (All of you) I’m using the pimax 8K in MSFS24su4 AIG models and Sayinterntions TFC injection. My hardware is an Ultra 9 285K and 5090gpu. My performance is amazing (PMDG777, no stutters, good frame rates from Taxi to Landing. However (I know it’s a reported problem currently using SI) on touchdown I get the pop up message saying no more VRAM available and frames go to a slideshow. Sometimes I can wait a minute or two and the system recovers back to good FPS and I’m able to taxi to the gate. Other times the recovery takes longer and I give up and restart. My question relates to VRAM recovery. Would increasing dedicated video memory in the registry be worth it. Or Is a restart the only method?? thanks IM

Waiting for Authentication
Thanks for all the feedback. It’s nice to know it’s not just me and my computer. I’m in Australia and it’s been like this all day, so my patience is almost looking like my startup Authenticator progress bar. thx everyone IM

Waiting for Authentication
I’m stuck on the start screen. 0% - Waiting For Authentication… I checked the MSFS 2020/24 forums and I see a message from MS saying an Authentication issue has been resolved. Anyone else having this issue or is it just me and my computer. I’ve never had this issue before. thanks IM

MSFS LOD setting Confusion
Thank you to both of you for your comments. Yes, when using their own AIG software injection I don’t see the missing landing gear. As you say, most likely an Asobo issue where the system is internally load shedding when using different 3rd party traffic injectors. With your input I’m guessing AIG traffic injection system is much more fps friendly and MSFS doesn’t need to load shed. Appreciate your reply.

MSFS LOD setting Confusion
Can someone be kind enough to explain why and maybe point me to a solution for VR flying. I use the AIG Ai aircraft models for traffic in 2024. If I use the AIG software injection method I have no issues, everything appears perfect. However if I use the Sayintentions traffic injection the landing gear is missing unless I’m up close. I’ve read that this is purely a LOD setting either by the simmer and AI model creator. In SIM my LOD settings are maxed out at 400 and 200. Obviously the problem is not with the models but with how SI uses them. I’ve reached out to SI for advice but was told their system only uses my already installed AI traffic and the problem is with the design of the models. Im confused as to how SI traffic drops the LOD when I’m using the very same models. thx

PMDG777 Update. Still unusable in VR here in MSFS2024
Iceman2 replied to AJZip2's topic in Virtual Reality (VR) for Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)Same here as of today after I updated the aircraft through the PMDG Control Center with MSFS 2024. Disappointing, VR show stopper. Awaiting a fix. Are we waiting for adobo or pmdg? IM

AI default Traffic re-spawning when switching to VR
Thanks to the good folks here I’ve (followed instructions) managed to remove AI default static traffic: by turning the many traffic settings back ON again then OFF while in game in MSFS 2024. This works well when not in VR and removes the static aircraft for VATSIM or Sayintentions. However when I switch to VR all static AC appear again. If I do the above ON/OFF method whilst in VR this won’t turn off the AC. Is it an SU3 beta problem, I don’t remember this problem in previous versions although I’m relatively new to 2024. I’m guessing all static aircraft are streamed so there’s no actual static aircraft files on my drive that can be deleted. Anyone got the same issue with a solution. Not sure if it’s an all VR user problem and on Microsoft’s to fix list or is there only a few VR users with this problem or perhaps it’s only just me. thanks IM

Only Two VR complaints for FS2024
Iceman2 replied to Iceman2's topic in Virtual Reality (VR) for Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)I was happy with the autogen even when it wasn’t perfectly shaped but at least it was clear crisp graphics until I saw the San Francisco Sutro Tower (large tall building) or lack there of. I’ve since found out if I turn photogrammetry on the tower changes shape to the real look and shrinks to the correct size but then all my trees and buildings look bad.

Only Two VR complaints for FS2024
Hi all, New rig 285k and 5090 with the Pimax 8K. Performance for me is excellent and I’m really enjoying the VR experience. However I have a blue circle showing just behind my seat but only when in aircraft that I can’t workout how to remove it. Also I’m getting white flashes far off in the distance along the horizon only when above roughly 20000 feet and when I move my head quickly. Below this altitude I don’t see it. I was thinking it was an overworked GPU but I still get these flashes with all settings turned off or low. I’m using activeSky so maybe that is causing it, I’m yet to try without it. I’ve tried different nvidia drivers without success. One more thing, I do most of my flying around the San Francisco Bay area and noticed the Sutro tower on the hill is tall building not the tower. I have some 3rd party airports like KSFO active but still troubleshooting for a solution as to how the tower got replaced by a tall building. Any help is greatly appreciated. thx IM

Special Effects gone after new GPU
Thx, I have already tried the last 3 older drivers without success. However Ive popped a post on the nvidia support forums like you suggested. Also the old card (3090TI) does bring back the special effects. So could be a case of waiting for a compatible driver for the 5090 if they can be bothered with a fix for P3D. Looks like I’ll need to wait impatiently for newer drivers. However the performance boost with the new GPU was nice to see.

Special Effects gone after new GPU
Thx, A bit disappointing, but it does seem to point to a GPU or driver issue.

Special Effects gone after new GPU
Hi All, I’ve completed a new install on P3dv5 on a completely new rig: 285k and the 5090 latest drivers. Default install no addons. I still have no effects. Anyone else able to comment on their 5090?

Special Effects gone after new GPU
Appreciate the response. Yes, I’ve deleted the shaders. thx

Special Effects gone after new GPU
Hi all, I upgraded to a 5090 without complaints except I have no special effects such as Contrails and Tire Smoke. I tried older driver options without success. I do use TOGA Envir special effects and have tried an uninstall returning to default effects, also without success. I also tried selecting medium instead of high in the in-game sliders. Anyone got some ideas. Seems strange that a new GPU would cause this. thx IM

Active Sky Cloud Art for FSX & P3D - Released!
Folks, Been doing some more flying round with AS16 and believe it is worth the money. I'm positive there is a performance increase over soft clouds and I don't get any stutters anymore when the storm clouds appear. As for the looks, I'm very happy with the cloud art and I like the way the textures change over time when required. IM

Active Sky Cloud Art for FSX & P3D - Released!
I think its a must as far as WX engines go if you can spare the money. I've tried them all and have been using ASN for awhile now. I prefer AS16 because the visibility has been improved and TS in the distance stick out better, higher and meaner looking. I don't notice any performance hit like I did with soft clouds when storms are around. (smooth flying all round) A big bonus for me is the AI contrails show up further in the distance, I can now see the contrails well before I spot the actual aircraft (this is a first) and the contrails don't disappear then reappear strangely like in all the other WX engines I've tried. (I've set all my contrails to -49 degs so depending on the upper temperatures on the day the contrails appear around FL350 and above) All very perfect in my book. Well done HIFI. IM

What kind of 4K TV?
Iceman2 replied to Gregg_Seipp's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcWell said Erich, 55' or 65" I doubt if it would make a huge difference or noticeable. thanks for reporting you experience IM

What kind of 4K TV?
Iceman2 replied to Gregg_Seipp's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcI'd go for a 55'' if the budget allows. Most 4k TVs these days are 60hz and above so adjustments in Nvidia Control Panel will be necessary to set 30hz. I have a Samsung 65'' UHD running P3D and love it. The picture quality is amazing and whilst the size of the TV at unboxing seemed ridiculous, once in play the size is dwarfed by the immersion. Im

Just discovering every day, what's more to really admire about P3D v3.2
Awesome Ses, Thanks for sharing. I noticed a huge change in picture quality when advancing to an UHD TV. (4K) IM

Blurry in distance and ring of autogen...any fix?
Thanks Rich, I'll try FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.40, I have tried 50 before but I didn't notice anything different and I assumed this was because I was running Frame Rates unlimited. Appreciate your replies. IM

Blurry in distance and ring of autogen...any fix?
Hi Rich, Less obvious during the night and I can live with that after dark, however I just don't get why most of my textures (if not All) are loading blurry. Back in the old days when hardware was weak I would often see clear textures after loading then slowly scenery would deteriorate as the system bottlenecked as we pushed for more eye candy. If I load P3d V3.2 without any eye candy except the ground textures to max resolution I'm certainly not bottlenecking anything here with a 6700k and Titan X. The GPU and CPU are almost idle when the sim is paused mid flight and stock aircraft. Must be an AM thing. I'm running HT on and AM 85 gives me the best fluid flight, but its so hard to tell as all numbers I've tried are fine and smooth. Non of which stop a complete blurry texture load though. I do have an UHD TV that perhaps shows more fine detail than I've been use to and 361.91 drivers. I'm interested to know if the sim should be loading textures clearly at startup at least. thx IM

Blurry in distance and ring of autogen...any fix?
I just tested with no auto gen no water just: Level of detail MAX'd, Tessellation Ultra, Mesh Resolution MAX'd Texture Resolution MAX'd Land detail textures checked And everything else turned down with a 6700k and Titan X and still have very blurry ground textures. So annoying IM

Blurry in distance and ring of autogen...any fix?
Sounds like we maybe onto something here, and thanks to Jeroen and others for the information. I will try these suggestions when I get home from work today. I too have been plagued by the blurries in P3D v3. I recently upgraded my system to a 6700k OC4.7 with a Titan X and 65in UHDTV set to 30hz when V3 came out. However I was somewhat surprised to find slow texture loading and blurry ground textures in the distance and beneath the aircraft, but for the first time in history of Flight Simming I had smooth flying with just about everything MAX'd out. I get best results with no stutters when I set FXAA OFF, MSAA 4 Samples, Texture Filtering 16X, Vsync ON, Triple Buffering checked. Before version 3.2 I needed to set frame rates to unlimited otherwise I got stutters, Now with a clean install of 3.2 I can lock the frames at 30 and the sim is still stutter free, which I think means I can now use some of the tweaks mentioned here in this thread. (correct me if I'm wrong as I assume setting Frames to Unlimited FFTF tweaks are useless) So far I have tried (before the start of this thread) FFTF 45, AffinityMask=84 & 85 (HT on) with really no noticeable changes in anything including the blurries. Maybe I'm bottlenecking something but most of the time the Titan X and 6700k are sitting below 50% usage. Thanks again for these suggestions. IM

P3D3.2 looks really good, but hesitations are really bad!
Pete, Thanks for your post, I too have noticed this con in 3.2. I had 3.1 sorted with no stutters or lags but I must say 3.2 looks better and handles the autogen pop up issue nicely. I have installed everything the same as in 3.1 including the AF as my only tweak, however the major difference for me is the late graphics draw in 3.2 for 3rd party scenery. For example if I approach the San Francisco bay from the east on a nice clear day and line up on runway 28L/R night or day the airport scenery (flightbeam) loads late approximately 15 miles out with a 1-2 second lag. This never happened in 3.1 since by the time the airport would come into view (20-30 miles) the detail was already drawn. Particularly noticeable at night as I approach the centreline at about 15 miles out the airport is still in darkness, then boom the tower controller flicks the switch and turns all the airport lights on and the runway appears. This only seems to happen on 3rd party complex scenery, not sure if LM did something in 3.2 with the scenery handling. IM
