February 13, 200620 yr I've been getting into military AI lately. I learned how to populate military bases. So far I'm using these for jet fighter AI;-Henry Tomkiewicz's F-16C and F-16D-Hiroaki Kubota's F-18-Mehlin Rainer's MiG 21-Mike Stone's A-10 and F-111 (with different air files)I was going to use the daSilva Su-27 model too, but after selecting it in the sim just to look at it, a dialog box appeared telling me the model might create instability in the sim. I can't afford that after finally curing multiple CTDs for months. So I jettisoned the Su-27, even though it did look good.So anybody else have a gem I've missed? I do believe that the models I listed are the major ones available, but I wanted to check with you all to see if I've missed any. Thanks alot, folksRick
February 13, 200620 yr Good Q. I was flying this yesterday. F/A 18E Hornet. Simply unbelievable. What sound what visual. Fly this babe at Dawn or dusk. Its spectacular.simple install too... Just dbl click on the exe and you are done. Such install on a freeware? Love it.http://www.gjsmith.net/Textures/f18.htmand here..some morehttp://flightinfo.ens.ne.jp/FS_KBT/dai.htmBTW.. I loved it so much, I was looking for an aircraft carrier and found a package by Rob Barendregt and Doug Dawsonright here at AVSIM download. But I didn't know how to install. I thought I did everything right. But I can't see the aircraft that were in it in FS9. Even though I created those aircraft directories unders fs9aircraft and each of them had a cfg file to it.I also don't know how to put myself in that scenary where the aircraft carrier (Waikato) is. what airport would I start out off?You can check it out. the filename is carrierop1146.zip PS: Oooops.. you were asking AI. Nevermind then. Sorry. :) Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
February 14, 200620 yr If you're installing military AI then you might want to consider having some support aircraft too: C130's, KC-135's, C-17's, E3 Awacs etc.If you want some of the heavier stuff to support your fighters, then Project AI has decent modelspackages/AFCADs of all the above mentioned aircraft.Hope this helps.... :)
February 15, 200620 yr Yeah the heavies. I have them too. C-5, C-141, C-130, C-17, E-3A, KC-10, KC-135, and all the military versions of commercial transports from Aardvark, FSPainter, Urakawa, Tomkiewicz GA types, and PAI. But that's the issue. We are awash in the heavies, but kinda slim with the fighters. Now I'm not complaining. I'm tickled pink to have the heavies to watch. But there is a special kind of rush watching fighters. So that's why I asked. I don't get to check with AVSIM everyday, so perhaps I missed the debut of a fighter model.Nonetheless, thanks for the response. AVSIM is a great community gathering place. Or when you think about it. Avsim is the reason we can be a community.Cool!!Rick
