Service Based Failures Question in relation to maintenance

Featured Replies

So reading the manual it mentions service based failures being used based upon statistical data.  What I'm wondering is does it have any relation to the "maintenance" section of the systems of the aircraft in the FMC?  For instance, the various systems have various amounts of time they need maintenance performed in.  As you go further in time from the last maintenance point does that affect the service based failure?  Hope that makes sense, not sure if I'm asking that correctly.  I guess for example, If I was down to the last 10 hours prior to engine maintenance, is it more likely to have engine failure?

I do not know exactly the code behind it but in a nutshell yes. For example I let the aircraft without maintenance on the press system. After some hours I had a failure on that system

Interesting!  So far I've been flying for quite some time without the service based failures enabled.  I think I'm ready to take the plunge now that I'm more comfortable with the airplane itself.

I just found a copy of one.  Gonna maybe have it printed and keep it in the side pocket of my throttle quad!

Haha yea I found it.  What I did first was download the docs from PMDGs website and I didn't see them in the directory.  I went in to the operation center and everything was there.  So far two uneventful flights down but the QRH will be at the ready!
