P3Dv4 vs FSX display

Indeed, removing HDR did a great improvement, the "washed out" colors are now normal. And I can appreciate the difference with FSX in terms of trees, clouds and so on.

I wonder what's the purpose of HRD here, maybe it works better with other graphic cards ?

I think it was originally designed to make the sim look like badly exsposed amateur  photos. Somehow this was thought to be more realistic .  :)  However in the hands of the experts it can do wonders:
