March 3, 200620 yr Can someone tell me which is the 'Preferred' Runway 09/27, conditions permitting, at Bristol EGGD - real world. The information is for use in Online flying.KenSomerset, England
March 3, 200620 yr It would depend on prevailing winds I would assume, unless there are special restrictions there.
March 3, 200620 yr I don't think there is a preferred runway, though only Rwy 27 is stated to be suitable for Cat II operations. Rwys 09 and 27 both have the same types of instrument approach - ILS/DME/NDB(L), Localiser/DME/NDB(L), SRA RTR 2nm, and DME/NDB(L).There are no SIDs or STARs, although there are some standard inbound and outbound routes. March 3, 200620 yr Hi, The majority of times I've flown into Bristol (real life 737-800) its been onto 27. Obviously with an easterly wind it'd be onto 09.Hope this helps.UKP
March 3, 200620 yr The prevailing winds in this part of the world are from the south-west so RWY 27 is used most of the time.
March 4, 200620 yr Thank you all for your replies, very helpful. Some airports have Noise Abatement problems and use runways that cause less annoyance to people living under the Flight Path; e.g. Heathrow uses Rwys 27L and 27R, subject to weather conditions etc. I asked the question since I was recently rerouted from my 'expected' runway, 09, to rwy 27 by ATC - I did have a tailwind of 5 kts, which is just on the limit, I understand. Not a problem, of course, I was just curious :)KenSomerset, England
