March 20, 200620 yr Hello.I have an unique situation. I've not come across this yet...maybe one of you guys can help me out.My FS9 has been working fine up to now. No new major installations of anything lately. But, I woke this morning and started the game, and noticed my aircraft do not display in "Create flight" or "Select Aircraft". In the frame in the lower half of the "Create flight" screen, where the aircraft display, it is only black. As if ALL of my aircraft are corrupted. But when I choose ANY aircraft, and hit "Fly Now", the game loads, and the aircraft is fine...I can see it and fly it. But, they don't render in "Create flight"...Any suggestions? I have got a ton of scenery installed, with many a/c, and do not want to start again. (My wife will not let me!)PLEASE, help me somebody!!!Thanks...Clayton
March 20, 200620 yr While I think it might be a graphics issue it could be easiest if you are able to do a system restore to a point in time when it worked OK. If it is still the same after the restore it could be a hardware problem. Be aware that any files or folders saved, between the restore point and now, may be gone after the restore so you might want to back those up first. I don't think emails in Outlook Express are affected. Don't know about other email types. Perhaps do a little research first or maybe someone else can advise?
March 20, 200620 yr If you have a nvida card make sure you have aa set to 4 or lower. This is a know problem with nvida video cards if the aa is set to higher then 4. keith:-beerchug
March 21, 200620 yr Or just leave the AA at 8x (which is what it's probably at right now) and switch to windowed mode (Alt+Return) when creating your flights. The planes will show then.http://www.virtualpilots.org/signatures/vpa168.png
March 21, 200620 yr Sounds like a video driver issue to me. Think I had that at myself at one time. Try updating your drivers, or if you have the newest try a slightly older version. Not sure if it'll make any difference, but you could try renaming your fs9.cfg and let it make a new one to see if it'll fix it. If it does, then comes the task of copying over your joystick/keyboard data to the new config file without messing anything up.I've got a couple oddities myself. I can see the aircraft but in fullscreen mode can't click and drag on them. And in windowed mode sometimes there's a pink border around windows where it ought to be transparent. But then I've got a really old video card that I'll be replacing in the not too distant future."Let me help you out. You're cleared to taxi any way you can to any runway you see."

I think 77.xx/78.xx should do the trick (download at guru3d.com e.g.) - though depending on how new the card is these could refuse to be installed. But might be worth a try if temporary windowed mode is not acceptable.>make any difference, but you could try renaming your fs9.cfg>and let it make a new one to see if it'll fix it. March 21, 200620 yr Whether that known problem affects all 81.x drivers or not I don't know, but I do know that with the 81.98 drivers for my FX5200 PCI I am not getting that black aircraft area problem and it's been a very long time since I did. I can see the aircraft just fine. I just can't click and drag on them. (And, as far as I can recall, this has been that way since at least 61.x. The last drivers I recall not having either problem with were 45.23.) Different systems and cards can have different issues with the same driver version.I've also had very odd graphical issues in FS9 that were caused by FS9.cfg settings."Let me help you out. You're cleared to taxi any way you can to any runway you see."
March 22, 200620 yr I had that problem appear when I 'upgraded' to the newer 83.90 drivers, whilst using a 6600GT. Going back to any of the 60's or 70's fixed that issue. I guess a few of the 80 series have broken something!

March 22, 200620 yr I never use antialiasing because it tends to dramatically drop my framerate, but I did have a black aircraft area problem once upon a time. Probably back in the 50.x-60.x version range."Let me help you out. You're cleared to taxi any way you can to any runway you see."
March 22, 200620 yr Hey everybody:Mr. Parrish was correct. I had updated to the newest NVIDIA drivers over the weekend! I never took that into consideration. Once I moved my antialias back down to 4x, that took care of the issue. Thanks everybody for the help!!!Clayton
