March 21, 200620 yr When in FS9 I open "help" => "about FS9" it shows version 9.00.When I run fs91upd.exe it says: "it is already installed". So how can I tell it is or isn't? Shouldn't the main FS9 screen reflect that new version?Reason for this question:I installed Active Camera (demo) for FS9 version 9.1 and nothing works. I positioned the aircraft at KSEA (Seattle, WA) because that's where the demo version is valid.Any suggesions will be appreciated.H.v.d.B.
March 21, 200620 yr One way to tell if you have FS9.1 installed and working is to go to Rhode Island, "Newport State", (KUUU)and take off on Runway 4, fly a left pattern and on downwind you should see the "Newport Bridge." It's a large "Suspension" bridge that stretches "completely" across the bay. If you still have FS 9.0 running, you will see a small...almost un-noticable "pier like" structure off to your right..West on the shore. FS 9.1 FIXED a lot of bridges that were faulty or non existant. SPOFFEDIT: SP
March 21, 200620 yr Go to your FS9 folder and right click on the FS9.exe file then click on properties then version. What have you tried in Active Camera that isn't working?Bud
March 21, 200620 yr >Go to your FS9 folder and right click on the FS9.exe file>then click on properties then version. What have you tried in>Active Camera that isn't working?>>BudHi Bud,That says the same thing as "help" => "about", i.e. version 9.0However, I have run fs91upd.exe and I get the message that it was already installed. So something doesn't make sense. If it's true that I still have 9.0, that would explain why Active Camera doesn't work (not a single command works), since I installed the version for FS9.1.I'll uninstall AC and install the 9.0 version and see what that does. Thanks for the response.H.v.d.B.
March 21, 200620 yr IIRC, it sounds like the 9.1 upgrade has been installed then uninstalled. If this is the case, then I seem to remember that there is a file that must be removed manually before 9.1 can be installed again. Check the readme file for the 9.1 update and see if you find the information and filename in there. R-

March 22, 200620 yr Thanks Jim.I had already found it and deleted it, after I had run the uninstall for the update. That uninstall program messed up the whole FS9, since it removed fs9.exe !! Obviously I couldn't run the sim anymore.Since I had installed a number of add-ons I really wanted to clean out, but couldn't do it with add/remove, since none of them had uninstall utilities, I decided this was as good time as any to clear the slate completely and thus uninstalled FS9.To clear out all the remnants I wanted to delete the FS9 folder, but MS didn't like that, it gave me the msg: "write protected or disk is full", REALLY !!. Well that meant going back to good old DOS and run line commands, which are really UNIX commands and having used UNIX a lot, that was no problem.I remembered that the FS9.cfg file was located somewhere else, I located that and renamed it.Then I re-installed FS9 and now it's up and running again, as version 9.00 of course. Once I work up enough courage, I'll install the update and try Active Camera again. I had already found that a few things seem to work when I uninstalled the version for FS9.1 and installed the one for FS9.0, so that's promising. Before I do those two things, however, I'll create restore points, so I can get back to a state where things are running o.k.Again thanks All for the prompt responses.H.v.d.B.

March 22, 200620 yr After removing folders, and many files, it leaves invalid entries in the registry. This can cause a slowdown of your system, and the more it happens, the worse it gets. To clean out invalid entries in the Registry get the free program CCleaner, install, and run it. You may be surprised at the number of entries which are found, if you have never run such a program. Your computer and FS9 will run -much- better.Bob
March 22, 200620 yr I'll first backup the registry, if I can find that file, and then start"Operation Clean Sweep".I am sure it's a mess by now.Thanks,H.v.d.B.
