March 27, 200620 yr by that I mean, I have FS2004 installed to an external HD, and can get great framerates out of it. But, like most people I've got some addonsEmma FieldTraffic 2005Flying ClubUT and UEFS global SEand a load more utils and ACIn the past before I added stuff, I noticed that with the no cd, I could run FS2004 from the external HD on any PC (which is great, seeing as I can effectively take a HD and stick round to a freind's house). But after all the addons, I tried running FS2004 on my laptop from the external HD, and was getting an error from FSGlobal - a missing file from the FSGlobal scenery folder (in the default FS9 scenery folder). I couldn;t figure out why.I also noticed that while some addon airstrips showed up in the scenery library, in FS2004 on the laptop, they weren't there in the airport list.I'm guessing the config stuff is stored in the FS9 folder in my documents, right, but shouldn;t everything else be self-contained and runnable as a standalone?
March 27, 200620 yr Payware addons could be installing stuff just about anywhere, (like maybe dlls in the windows system32 folder) and may be putting stuff in your registry too. There's also a scenery.cfg file and other stuff stored with your fs9.cfg file."Let me help you out. You're cleared to taxi any way you can to any runway you see."
March 27, 200620 yr Author Thanks for that, chaps.I might just copy the .CFGs off the c drive to my extenal and then copy them down to the new C:drive.Again, thanks for the help.
March 28, 200620 yr "There's also a scenery.cfg file and other stuff stored with your fs9.cfg file."Not to start a debate here, but I read a while ago that the scenery cfg file should not be in the same folder with the fs9cfg. That file gets there after a crash relating to scenery. I have always deleted it when it has shown up and all is well. I forget who the scenery designer was, either flytampa or flight scenery on the forums. This can effect performance. Just wanted to let you know in case it can help in anyway.
