April 4, 200620 yr Hello,Could someone help me.I just changed my old 1,8 PC for a new computer, (HD 2x160, AMD Dualcore 4600, Nvidia 6500 256mb). While I am very happy with the frame rate with FS9 (always 25 to 50fps (blocked at 50), even in busiest airports with 100% fs traffic 2005), (I am using resized autogen/cloud textures), I encounter some problems with graphics after 1h-2h where scenery start mooving first slightly, then more frequently, more specially when changing views, and, ultimatelly graphic is corrupted (e.g a night-time dark runway becomes all white) and fs crashes if I continue.Could someone tell me what is the origin of this problem (FS error report message mentions fs9.cfg, dxdiag, fs9 scenery.cfg as ref files for error - offset error nbr is 00040894.)I also noticed some important sound distorsion, specially with PMDG 737, even after reducing sound acceleration in dxdiag. Have noticed the following:-When installing FS9 on the new PC, I have copied the old fs9.cfg from my previous pc, just deleting the old graphic info in display chapter), could it cause the problem ? -Is this safe to copy an fs9.cfg from one pc to another, or one should let the system auto-create a new one (I wanted to avoid reprogramming all key assignments and settings) ?-Have noticed that under display chapter in the old fs9.cfg, a "mipbias=5" info aside previous graphic card, is not recreated in the FS9.cdg, is this specific to a particular graphic card ? -Got the impression (probably wrong) that this happened after using FSUIPC for FS9, as I had no crash before (reinstalled FS9 3 times).-The problem seem to occur with FS9 only, FS2002 on same pc does not seem affected.Sorry for my english, as you will notice, I am not a pc specialist and am trying to translate the best I can, but I would really appreciate if someone could give me some suggestions to solve this issue, any similar experience ? I can forward copy of my fs9.cfg if this can help. Many thanks for your time,Patrick JorandGeneva
April 4, 200620 yr Hi Patrick,Just some thoughts, no idea if they will cure your problem. If you want to keep your key assignments from your old fs9.cfg file I would make a copy of that file, delete the original and let FS create a new fs9.cfg file for your new hardware. If the key assigments you want to keep are the ones done through the FS9 assignments 'window' I would also make a note of those as it is best to recreate them from new but you can check they are the same from your list and by comparing the two fs9.cfg files.Any settings done via FSUIPC should remain in the FSUIPC.ini file apart from any joystick axis calibrations which are in the fs9.cfg file. You can copy these over.If this problem happens after 1 - 2hr flying it sounds like it could be a heat problem. The graphics card is getting hot and starting to fail and so corrupts the display.I don't know the 6500 card but if there is any way to monitor its temperature or fan speed, make sure they are within range. You can also trying removing the PC case cover(s) and seeing if the extra air flow helps to keep the display stable.Good luck
April 6, 200620 yr Author Dear Vulcan,Many thanks for having taken the time to answer my queries. I followed your advice and reinstalled fs9 and let the cfg.file create, just copied past the key assignments from the previous file.Have also tried to move my pc to a cooler place in the flat, so far, no problem seen. Thanks again for your answer.Patrick Geneva, Switzerland
