HELP With Editing UT Roads

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I was hoping someone with texture knowledge could assist me.

First off:

FS2004 & Ultimate Terrain

I'm trying to edit the UT (Night only) road textures and am having head-banging issues. For those famailiar to UT, there is a texture configurator that allows you to select type, i.e. Sodium, Mercury etc., and road brightness, i.e. Bright, Dim, Dark, and volume, i.e. Low, Mixed, etc.

I am trying to edit only those found within the (Sodium), (Dark), and (Low) categories. I find that all of these textures are 8 bit - 256. I'm cautious when editing to not change this format. After completing editing, I manually install the textures into the appropriate folder. I've even transferred the textures into FS9/Flightone Software/Ultimate Terrain and installed them via the application.

PROBLEM:  Same result no matter what I do. Everything looks good nearby. But as the roads stretch in the distance they become bright white roads instead of the sodium color. I've tried everything with the application interface as far as options such as "roads fade in the distance" etc. etc.

Once I reinstall the originals the problem is solved. So I'm confident the problem is a texture issue in how I'm saving it or something.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks,

Mitch
