April 22, 200620 yr Hey everyone. I have been having alot of problems lately with FS9. All of a sudden this week, after turning on my computer and then launching FS9, my scenery files got rebuilt for no reason. It only happend the one time. Now I get the black screen followed by g2d.dll errors all the time now. After 45mins to 1 hr of flying then the error, this is beyond frustrating of course. I am getting a new system (hopefully) this week. What is usually the culprit of this error? I checked my scenerycfg and compared it to the order in flightsim settings. They were indeed out of order. How this happened, I have no idea. I then got flightsim manager 2.85 and it did confirm this. After running it, all things looked great. Well I just got the darn error again. How can I put this to rest? I am so sick and tired of the problems, that words cannot describe how angry and worn out I am. Between my machine and FS9, I am going to lose it. I just wish I could have time to enjoy FS9 rather than fixing it. Any help on this error would be most appreciated. I realize there have been many posts about this, but I don't know which is correct. Thank you again. The day I get a new machine, then just maybe I can have some enjoyment for once.
April 22, 200620 yr Out of my experience, and also to calm you, almost everyone has the same problem every now and then. Only possible and easiest thing is to reinstall FS9 and put the addons you know you trust. If you have so much in your FS9, so that you say it would take too much time to reinstall, then your FS9 is overcrowded. Put in only things you use. And I suggest you search for ScanAFD, which will also get you rid of some errors, possibly all.Hope it helps.
April 22, 200620 yr duplicate afcad files, faulty ai flight plans and textures, plus empty texture folders have caused similar problems for me.
April 22, 200620 yr Thanks guys, I will keep trying to get to the bottom of it. I am calmed down now. I should have waited a couple of hours before posting. Like I said, hopefully I will have a new rig soon, and I will then have to reinstall FS9 anyway. I'm sure that will bring new things to the table. I probably will have more questions in regards to the duplicate files and such once I run scan afcad. Have a good night.
April 23, 200620 yr Hey everyone, Well, I uninstalled and then reinstalled newer drivers for the video card. As soon as I loaded one of my add-on planes....g2d.dll error. This problem has seemed to get alot worse since I installed flightsim manager 2.85. Not only did this program replace my FSUIPC with vers 3.44 ( I had 3.41) It seems to be a very buggy program. It, in itself keeps encountering errors when I use it. I did put back 3.41 as that works well for me. I thought FSM 2.85 would help me instead of complicating matters. But now I have no idea what started this in the first place. Is there anything else I should try to hunt down as being the culprit?? Aircraft maybe? I am at a loss where to go from here. I wanted to avoid the starting over on this machine as when I get my new one, I wanted to use a LAN and use both, not to mention the tremendous amout of time to reinstall everything. Thanks a miilion in advance for any help on this.
April 23, 200620 yr I know that recently a few flying buddies and I installed some mesh, french altiports, and some other items for that area. We ran into this g2d.dll error also sporadically. A search on the net did not prove inclusive, but what we did was to uncheck aircraft shadows. So far, no repeat!Rodney
