April 24, 200620 yr hi all,in the 737/800 the VOR/LOC button once pressed for a DME approach, does this also bring you down to the runway or does this button only offer guidance to align you to the runway?anyone can offer advice on how to shoot a VOR approach with a DME ARC? April 24, 200620 yr Clayton:You are right in your assumption that the VOR/LOC button aligns you with the runway, or more correctly with the VOR or LOC beacon. It will not provide any vertical cues.As for a DME ARC approach, I will assume you are flying an a/c that has a FMC. You can input the ARC into the FMC using VOR/Radial/Distance method. Example you want to fly a 12 mile ARC around the VOR LAX:Input your start point: 12 miles from LAX on the 340 radial LAX340/12Input in increments of say 10 degrees so you next will be LAX330/12and so on.The actual waypoint names will be assigned by the FMC as LAX01, LAX02, etc.Btw I'm not at my sim computer so I may have the "/" in the wrong place but I think you get the general idea.
