April 26, 200620 yr In his recent review, Steve Chappel demonstrated the benefits of using Ultimate Terrain, FS Genesis Mesh, and Bird's Eye View add-ons together (http://www.avsim.com/pages/0106/3scene/3scene.htm).I already have FS Genesis Landclass, FS Genesis Mesh, and Bird's Eye View. Does the Landclass do the same thing as Ultimate Terrain? Thanks,
April 26, 200620 yr Ultimate Terrain only contains urban landclass. For rural areas it just uses default FS9 landclass. Justin's (FSGenesis) landclass is a huge improvement. In the Flight 1 support forums, you can download the "sandwich" patch which allows you to use the FSGenesis landclass in rural areas and UT landclass in urban areas.Jim
April 27, 200620 yr In fact, you may find you'll want to turn off the UT landclass. I find it to be too urban, putting cityscape everywhere, and have been redoing everywhere I fly. I've got the Cape & Islands done (MA) and I've been working my way from KASH south and towards Boston. I hope to have a lot of Eastern MA done in a month or so.But it really depends on where you fly and your own preferences.I'm really interested to see what FSX will provide in increased fidelity of the landclass. I'm hoping there are more rural suburban choices with only 2 - 3 story buildings, instead of the 6 - 10 story buildings that are in it now.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com/FC_StartJava.html] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-) Tom Perry
April 27, 200620 yr I ended up doing the same thing. I fly mostly in the northeast and found the UT urban landclass was way too much, it turned small towns into big cities. The area looks better with just the FSGenesis landclass.Jim
