runway incursion...by trees! How to rid.

Featured Replies

Did an approach into KOAK rwy 19 yesterday and found the threshold partially obsured by two autogen trees sitting right up to and just to the right of the paved area. These have been here a while (noticed them before) and it is time I get rid of them. I am using a custom AFCAD for the airport but I compared it with the defaut and the runways are in the exact same location. I use 100% autogen with FSgenesis mesh and landclass. Thus I think that the after the mesh and landclass installation the underlying landclass for a small chunk of land off the airport perimeter is peeking thru and when trees are generated there they are two close. I know there is such a thing as an autogen exclude file but I wondered if someone can tell me how you create one and where it is placed etc.

You need the file - excbuilderv2.zip and FSConnect. You also need the Microsoft BGLComp SDK from the Microsoft site.FSConnect goes in the modules folder and works like FSUIPC to feed information about your aircraft location to ExcBuilder. You use it somewhat like you use AFCAD to place parking spots near buildings. In FS, you slew your aircraft to the location and press a button in the other program.A couple points for Exclude Builder:Check the option to exclude ALL OBJECTS - autogen is only excluded with that setting. Also set the program to keep the source code - if there is an error - you might be able to figure out why. When you are ready and your aircraft is in the slew move - hit the space bar to make your aircraft face true north.Exclusion areas must be rectangles - no multi-sided polygons allowed.Slew your aircraft to the northwest corner of the area you want clear - click the two boxes to record the location in ExcBuilder; slew to the southeast corner - click the two boxes to record the location, then tell the program to generate the XML code - then to generate the .BGL file.Work with small rectangles - it's quite often that one rectangle will not meet your requirements. That's one reason I keep the .XML files - if I have several exclusion areas - I can combine them into one file later.I name my exclude files by this standard:ICAO_Exc_01.BGLI place them in the SceneryGenericScenery folder - per the SDK.

owe you one Reggie. thanks again
