Which Mesh?

Featured Replies

Hi AllI am trying to decide which is the better mesh between FSGlobal and FSGenesis. I like the idea of genesis's membership but just want the best and most accurate mesh that I can get.RegardsIanAntec P180 case with Antec True Power V2 550w power supplyAsus A8N SLI Premium (rev 1009)AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor 4800+ (OC'd to 2.64)Corsair TwinX2048 3200 C2PRO Ram2 x Western Digital Raptor 74gig 10k SATA 8meg buffer in Raid02 x XFX GEFORCE 7900GTX 512meg Dual DVI EXTREME in SLIViewsonic VX922 19" DVI LCD 2msLogitech G-15 USB Gaming Keyboard & Logitech MX-518 USB Gaming MouseLogitech Z-5400 Dolby Digital 5.1 THX-certified, 310-watt Speaker SystemMS Sidewinder Force feedback 2 joystickCH Products Yoke and PedalsNatural Point TrackIR with Vector Enhancement

My understanding is that FSGlobal is all at one level of detail. FSGenesis, on the other hand, is a whole bunch of mesh at different levels of detail. For example, the Hawaiian islands from FSGenesis are available at much higher 'resolution' than most other parts of the US. So your comparison must take into account the level of detail as well as the accuracy of the mesh. With your specs you won't have any trouble running the more detailed mesh from FSGenesis, where it exists. But if you just want a broad coverage you can install for most of the world, FSGlobal is worth a go. Bear in mind there are better alternatives than either for some parts of the world. Red Baron entertainment have a simply outstanding package for New Zealand that includes a lot more than just mesh.http://www.redbarent.com/Cheers,Noel.

For FSGenesis, pretty much all of the world is covered by LOD 9 (76.4 m) SRTM mesh. The US is also covered by LOD 10 (38.2 m)NED/CDED mesh. Some, Yelowstone, Grand Canyon, Hawaiian islands, etc., is covered by LOD 11/12 (9.6/19.1 m) mesh. Some levels of FSGensis membership give you access to all of these products. Otherwise you can pay for what you want.Go to http://www.FSGenesis.netCheers,Noel.

FSGenesis covers basically the whole world and Justin is actively working to update and refine the various mesh files. As pointed out above - there are some mesh files for some areas where local knowledge has made significantly better mesh. Also - the better your mesh - the more likely you are to run into issues with some FS airports which are in the wrong place or wrong elevation. They blended with the default mesh - a higher resolution mesh can cause issues of plateau's and valleys. But don't let that be a negative - the big main airports are fine.I consider my Galaxy class membership one of the five best purchases I've made for FS addons.I do use other mesh products (all except one freeware) in some limited areas - but FSGenesis is my main world wide coverage.

Thanks GuysLooks like FSGenesis it is then - now which membership ;) RegardsIanAntec P180 case with Antec True Power V2 550w power supplyAsus A8N SLI Premium (rev 1009)AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor 4800+ (OC'd to 2.64)Corsair TwinX2048 3200 C2PRO Ram2 x Western Digital Raptor 74gig 10k SATA 8meg buffer in Raid02 x XFX GEFORCE 7900GTX 512meg Dual DVI EXTREME in SLIViewsonic VX922 19" DVI LCD 2msLogitech G-15 USB Gaming Keyboard & Logitech MX-518 USB Gaming MouseLogitech Z-5400 Dolby Digital 5.1 THX-certified, 310-watt Speaker SystemMS Sidewinder Force feedback 2 joystickCH Products Yoke and PedalsNatural Point TrackIR with Vector Enhancement
