AI Flight Plan Question Regarding Modification

Featured Replies

Hi! I'm using RC4 for my ATC and it calls all my GA by reg number only. When I tried to add the RC4 codes for all GA to the callsign section of the aircraft.cfg files, it caused RC4 to call them by flight number.I'm wondering if I can modify them to call by manufacturer and reg #Would this work? Example:BeforeAC#2097,N541SP,46%,4Hr,VFR,00:48:57,02:02:49,065,F,9073,KFWA,03:10:57,TNG04:48:56,075,F,9072,I69After a proposed mod to get Piper callsign:AC#2097,pip N541SP,46%,4Hr,VFR,00:48:57,02:02:49,065,F,9073,KFWA,03:10:57,TNG04:48:56,075,F,9072,I69Or is there some other method perhaps? I don't know anything about AI flight plans and AI to know if the above will effect them flying right or not. Thanks!

What AI aircraft are called by FS ATC is found in the aircraft.cfg file, in the General section. The ATC_type and ATC_model lines are the important ones. Perhaps RC4 works the same way?For example:atc_type=CONVAIRatc_model=240Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

No, that only works in MS ATC and with EditVoicePack. RC4 will read commercial airline flights okay, but with GA, it only wants to read the reg number and not include the manufacturer. This is why I'm curious as to whether or not changing that line in the flightplan.txt file would effect the AI.

'F' specifies that if the aircraft is associated with an airline then the airline name and flight number are to be used for an ATC call sign (e.g. "Landmark 1213").

I noticed this on a FS2002 website about AI. I wonder why F1 programmed the GA to use that code. Interesting. I asked this question on the UT forums and wasn't told this, but that my example will work too. Hopefully they understood what I meant, as you did.I like the R idea a little better, at least to experiment. I think I'll try it first unless I'm told otherwise by tomorrow. Thanks!

The handful of ai traffic files that I have written for myself are all GA. The R designation is the one I use to get atc to use the Nnumber and aircraft make (or airline name). The middle paragraph I used in my first response to your query, 'F' specifies that if the aircraft is associated with an airline then the airline name and flight number are to be used for an ATC call sign (e.g. "Landmark 1213").
