Cessna 150 - Jumpseat?

Featured Replies

J.E. Narcizo has a great little Cessna 150 Aerobat out for FS2004. The aircraft is modelled with a jumpseat. Are there real 150's out there with jump seats? I'm curious since the useful load on a 150 wouldn't leave much room beyond two pax and fuel. This model hasn't received much attention, but it's a very nice rendition of a classic given the cost :)John

I'd be surprised. Very little space and power for three. Imagine it though. After 20 minutes of aerobatics and the jumpseat rider feels like a quick bout of vomitting coming on. One technicolor yawn later and all three will want to get down and out of the aircraft pretty smartly!x(

Yes, the jumpseat or removable child's seat had a weight limit of 100lbs and was available as a field installed option on earlier 150's. I'm not sure of the year they dropped offering it or if it is even available any longer through their parts department. You will occasionally see a 150 for sale that has this option installed. The earlier 172's had the same basic seat offered as a third row optional child's seat.

Power for 3! Heck there was not even enough power for one.

Thanks Zane...It's interesting in the 150 modelled, the seat looks like it could handle a couple of adults. It's a great C150 model--the best freeware model I've seen. It can be found at flightsim.com-JohnEdit: Well I'll be... Found a link showing the seat:http://www.mellens.net/n7045f.html

John,The jumpseat addition goes all the way back to the C-120, limited to a max weight of 80 pounds. Our 120 has been in the family 50 years now, and we routinely traveled as a family of four - two of us in the jumpseat and the folks up front (until my sister and I weighed a combined 80 pounds + or -). Since those days our kids, and later grandkids, have occupied the jumpseat (and still do). And of course my grandparents each made occasional trips with my dad as well, bringing the count to 5 generations.Regards,Leon
