January 28, 20188 yr My test flight was an autoland and I wanted to do a more traditional landing with using LOC to get on the glideslope. The flight was a short one from KRSW to KMIA 8R. I took off normally using EPR for the first time and flew my Radar Contact controlled flight at a lowly 9000 ft and 240 kts. The takeoff was nice and the a/c handled well up to course and altitude using FL CH and HDG after a few thousand feet. I then LNAVed by RC instructions until it set me up for vectors when I again resorted to HDG mode and FL CH to descend. I did use the LOC to get on the ILS course and it grabbed it well. At 5 miles out, I went manual on the throttle and AP was disconnected. I am not the worlds best lander but this one was almost perfect. Centerline, 70 fpm, great flare and everything as Lord of the Landing judged me to be perfect. This may have been one of my best landing in any a/c over the past decades. Was it the 757 or just dumb luck. I took no chances for this test and did not use WX. My point is this aircraft seems ready to fly to me. I understand some have had a few bumps along the way but who knows what they know or don't. The Shift E and keyboard crowd will, no doubt, have some difficulty. Those who used the LDS763 and the PMDG or the Ifly aircraft should really have no problem wrapping their skills around this one. I can hardly wait as CS does a few more fixes for minor issues such as poor VNAV and fuel consumption. Some get all wrought up about stuff you don't need to have a good flight and focus on the negative. I think Captain Sim may finally be moving into the big leagues and hope they do as the more competition, the better for all of us. Tha'ts my two cents worth.
