May 13, 200620 yr There was an add-on I used to see banners promoting all the time that updated FS9's city night lights. I can't find it at any of the common vendors. Does anybody remember what it was called??? :-hmmm The program really lite up city lights on the ground.I own Ground Environment but I'm not too impressed with the city lighting offered with that package...Thanks for any help you guys can give... :-)
May 13, 200620 yr keep in mind that if use any ground lighting other then GEs the lights wont line up with the GE streets and autogen. Now, are you thinking of Ultimate Night Environment Pro?I didnt care for that one but I really like GE's.....

May 13, 200620 yr That's it Spooky (one heck of a name :() thanks.... :-)I totally forgot about the autogen lining up with the lights, oh well. My problem with GE's city night lights is they look like meaningless orange blobs from high altitude (32,000ft). Plus their not that bright or should I say have a dull look to them that has a look far from what a city should look like for that altitude. I remember I had the freeware night lighting installed that brightened things up a bit over the default. I guess that option is done now as well... In all farness, the GE city lights look great if your 4,000ft above them but that's about it. UT lights were nice but I uninstalled those textures do to the fact that the coastline buildings in Hawaii weren't lining up. We're close enough to FSX/Vista where I guess I can wait for a complete upgrade of Flight Simulator...
May 13, 200620 yr Found what I needed as a fix..1. Ultimate Night Environment (freeware)2. Night Environment Upgrade (freeware)3. Airport building textures from Airport Environment Upgrade_MX (freeware)Everything looks great again at night. Spooky I don't see too much of a problem with the autogen lining up. Considering the tradeoff, I like the brighter night lighting all around. Thanks guys for the help... :-)
May 14, 200620 yr I guess one really can't tell the difference since the shots are so dark but if you look in the first pic you can really see the city in the distance versus the smaller towns that are closer on the bottom left. The Second pic shows the roads are still very much present. If you were down low there really is no visible problem with the autogen. The only way you would have a problem is if you were a stickler for detail. If that's the case you most likely would have UT installed anyway... :-)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/149161.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/149162.jpg
