CH Rudder Pedals - Calibration Dilemma

Featured Replies

Hi all,I've got a question for anyone who has CH Products USB Rudder Pedals. Here's my dilemma:1. My pedals are slightly out of whack. That is, they normally indicate a turn to the left when centered.2. Using the driver provided by CH fixes this. The CH calibration enables me to correct for the left cant of the rudders.3. I've only been able to use this driver immediately after installing the CH Control Center from the CH website. If I unplug my pedals and then plug them in again, they are detected as a generic joystick and I'm stuck with the default Windows calibration that's unable to correct for the error in the rudder axis.My question is twofold:First, is there some way to change the driver of the pedals? I mean short of re-installing the CH Control Center, which is what I've had to do before. The files are all there, it's just that Windows doesn't use the driver. Can I point it to the right driver somehow?Secondly, is there some way to make this the "default" driver for the pedals, so it uses the CH driver whenever I plug them in?Thanks so much to anyone who can help me on this.Best Regards,Matt Smith

Have you tried creating a genertic map within CHCM to control the pedals? Then, after plugging in the pedals, you should be able to launch Control Manager, load your map, and be using the correct driver. R-

Good morning Matt:Suggestion:Check http://www.schiratti.com for help on mapping the CH Manager. If worse comes to worse, Mr. Bob Chruch has contributed kind help at [email protected] when needed, and believe me he is the authority. You should be able to develope your own preferred map (or maps if you want diversified multiples), save them along with your fs9.cfg and devices.cfg files and be able to recover as you mentioned to your originated preferences at any time. You can also double your button functions as well.Hope this helps:RTH

So, what did you do? I'm having the same problem, and posting a fix for others would be appreciated.I searched the forementioned link, with no success.

Paul,Sorry - how thoughtless of me. ;-)The key is to use the "CM Control Center" program that comes with the CH Control Manager. Start that program and click on the "Direct" button on the top (third button in from the left.) That gets the yoke and joystick back on the CH Drivers.I've not rebooted since I've fixed this, so I'm not sure if it will be necessary to restart the program in order to get the yoke and pedals set up right every time you boot up.Best of luck,Matt SmithPS - If you're interested, there's a great explanation of how the system works in the CH Control Manager help file - that's how I figured this out.

Hello again:For what it is worth relative to retaining your settings at bootup for your settings, there is an execution file called "CMStart.exe" in the control manager provisions that can be copied to your Start/All Programs/startup folder which will retain your previous settings at boot up. (If you already are on top of this, just ignore me.)Happy flying:RTH

Na, not thoughless of you at all. I'll give that a shot, thanks for the reply.
