June 25, 200619 yr Editing sound files,or replacing is very easy and fun. Just about every plane I have and its alot, have custom sounds. I am picky about touch down and roll sounds. So if a plane has that cheesy loud chirping sound and I want a deep thump, I open up the planes sound folder, then the sound.cfg.Scroll down till you find it,say touchdown.wav. Rename it origtouchdown.wav for example or delete it. Then drop into the sound folder the touchdown sound you like. Rename it to what it was called in the sound.cfg.From the sound.cfg you can also adjust the volumn of each sound. So you can turn up the wind sounds or maybe turn down the gear sounds.I have one folder with over 30 gear up/down sounds and another with roll, wind sounds. I use it to replace sounds that I did not like.If you are nervous, simple copy the planes sound folder and edit away on the new one. Or drop in another planes sound folder.
