As Real As It Gets

you might try changing the aircraft type like if you fly mostly commerical jets switch to GA and if GA switch to commerical. i do a lot of reading and have tons of flying mags and books. generally though, i just like to fly and take a few days and think about where i'd like to fly to and like you i enjoy flight planning so i'll take extra time to plan a flight and review it a day or so before i actually fly it. i find it relaxing to just fly to where i'd like to go and make sure NOT to fly too long a flight as to where you want to land before you reach your destination. takes the fun out of it. do what you normaly do but fly for the ENJOYMENT of it. i'm sure you've already covred these bases but wanted to throw in my 2 cents. william

, I would>suggest looking into a home cockpit setup.>>-Bryan>Hi Bryan,He said he's using 'TrackIR' much, much cheaper than building your own cockpit and more immersive. With a built cockpit, the latest add-on aircraft is meaningless because your not in that cockpit. With TIR you are.Easily the best ever hardware designed for FS.

Here's another fun idea, something I've been doing for the past year:Where ever you go, find information on the country/city/town/airport you are visiting. Make a log with pictures, like a traveller's book :)Places of interest, history, population, government, etc. It usually leads to discovering new destinations to visit :)Best of all, it's free too!

Sorry, gotta speak for VATSIM again :)99% use real world weather and those who don't, must have a really good reason for that (maybe GA events etc). I'm controlling at EGLL in VATSIM and I haven't met one pilot who has had any issues with weather or runways. Those who haven't, just go and give it a try. IMO, it's a lot better feeling to fly in an environment where you have real people around you (both pilots and controllers) than just watching the auto-generated objects FS creates. Myself I've become so addicted in VATSIM that it's very rare if I don't start Squawkbox with FS9 :)

Have you tried joining a virtual airline. They have a wide range that can suit anybody. Some you can the fly anywhere and pirep others you have to fly real flights on the right aircraft at the right virtual time and you have to move up the ranks from turboprop to small jet to medium to heavy. Some you even have to pass checkrides to fly a certain aircraft time. Like I said some thing for everyone.Regards, Carlos

Then you need to go here and get your kit. Read what Captain Hough has to say.http://www.simworks.thegrassworks.com/Ash

Having just finished last night at 2:30 in the morning a flightfrom RJAA to VHHX using RFP 744, using INS for navigation and that appraoch to VHHX, I was very tired, I flew the KMSP to RJAAin realtime in the PMDG 747 a few days before. Now I wouldlike to try to refresh my memory in the Dreamfleet 727, then its back to the 737 NG, I have had FS Build for a few years but stillneed to read more how to use it, then back to some more SID/STARs.Its a struggle for me.
