Title – Lockheed Martin wins NASA supersonic X-plane contract

The future of supersonic passenger aircraft travel may be getting closer to reality.  NASA awarded a contract to Lockheed Martin to build a supersonic X-plane designed to fly faster than sound.  The contract must “demonstrate the ability to fly supersonic, yet generate sonic booms so quiet, people on the ground will hardly notice them, if they hear them at all.”  The piloted aircraft must be delivered by the end of 2021.  More information at NASA - https://www.nasa.gov/lowboom/new-nasa-x-plane-construction-begins-now .
