June 15, 200619 yr Hi,OK. This has probably been hashed and re-hashed many times already, but wanted to know if there is any software the will smoothly transition the weather areas in FS. I have a registered copy of FSUIPC, but I get wild variations in weather as the plane moves from area to area. This is specially true while flying on-line. There is nothing more frustrating than seeing clouds in the radar and/or horizon, preparing to avoid them and all of a sudden they are gone! ;( No real value of weather navigation can be obtained from this behaviour. I wish that in FS9 or FS10 somebody comes up with a solution. Just an inquiry, regards,Macs :)
June 15, 200619 yr Hi,I know I may take some heat for this, but Active Sky V6 will fix this situation and provide you with much more. Yes, you can use ASv6 with VATSIM!Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
June 15, 200619 yr Thanks for the info Jim. I have been thinking about getting it for a while; I may just do so... :)regards,Macs :)
June 15, 200619 yr No need for fearing heat Jim (that guy in the earlier thread was out of line and I was disappointed to see him jump on you). You are dead on correct and it is appropriate for you to bring AS6 up in this context. AS6 is one very good solution. Works for me anyway, because I too was really bothered by this. Even with AS6 I still get some of this, but not on the scale I used to.
June 15, 200619 yr Author >bothered by this. Even with AS6 I still get some of this, but>not on the scale I used to. I have AS6 and I still get a little bit of the "sudden transitions"...but I *think* if you have the registered version of FSUIPC this can be totally eliminated. Or am I wrong?Rhett Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
June 15, 200619 yr Hi All,If you have the suppression options set correctly, you should never see clouds "pop-up" around your aircraft, with or without registered FSUIPC.Now, if we are talking about how distant clouds are drawn on the screen for the very first time, that is a video system issue and there are only a few things we can do about that! Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
June 15, 200619 yr Author Actually I was referring to sudden visibility changes...which with AS6 only occur about once every oh, 10 flight sim sessions. With stock FS weather, they occur just about every time, though. So it's an improvement. Maybe it is METAR specific?I was just thinking that maybe a registered FSUIPC would smooth the vis changes ALL the time.Rhett Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

As always, it all points to a limitaiton in FS some way or another... Thanks for your help.regards,Macs :)
June 15, 200619 yr I use AS with FE textures and unregistered FSUIPC and never have the problem. Of course I had my system tweaked by an un-named service and that may have something to do with it :-)
June 15, 200619 yr Hi Mace,The visibility changes between 10SM is a FS04 issue. Yes, there are tweeks with FSUIPC Registered to help a bit.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/
June 15, 200619 yr Hi Macs,Try setting the cloud draw distance to 30 or 40.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/
