June 15, 200619 yr Have any of you tried out the new Windows Live One Care system? I'm curious if you have seen any change in how FS9 performs. I've been a user of Norton's full anti-virus program, but I always shut it off when I flew. Now Windows' new system supposedly is smoother and more effective, but you can't shut it off. I'm curious if it's running in the background and affecting FS9 performance, or if it just leaves FS9 alone. This new system probably heralds how Vista is going to work, which of course will impinge on FSX performance.Any thoughts will be appreciated.Lee Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090
June 15, 200619 yr I have had One Care Live since it was still in Beta and Microsoft was giving a special offer of a year's service for $19.95. Until then I had the McAfee Virusscan and Personal Firewall and was tired of their glitchiness and power consumption.I like the One Care, believe it is less power-hungry, and it has generally been more carefree than other programs I have used. Parts of it can be turned off. When you open it there are options for turning off the virus protection and the antispyware, but I see no such option for the firewall.
