June 23, 200619 yr I have a friend who has FS9. He is having problems with his ATC and ATIS messages. When he clicks on the ATIS prompt key the ATIS message starts to stream across the screen as shown in the attached screenshot. It never plays any audio and sometimes does not scroll at all as you can see. Sometimes it just stops and restarts over and over again. He also has problems with contacting the ground and tower. He gets the visual message that his contact was received but no audio. Sometimes he can hear other comms with the tower or ground. It is intermittent and happens at many airports. Since we are not near to each other I cannot see the exact problems or duplicate them myself. Any help sure would be appreciated. My next thought is to reinstall the USEnglishBig.gvp from the Disk #2 MSGames5 cab file. Thanks and best regards, Bob.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/151604.jpg
June 23, 200619 yr Hi Bob,Some suggestions (I'm no expert) but I would --check the sound settings, make sure they are all on. Restore defaults.--check key assignments and restore defaults (maybe he changed a key assignment that affects ATIS).--ATIS should remain on as long as the COM radio address is set for ATIS. Clicking on "1. Tune to Seattle Ground" will change this radio address but ATIS will usually continue until the complete message is finished. Check COM settings on aircraft and make sure COM radios are on or off as appropriate.Does this just happen to the 172 or does it happen to all aircraft?I've never heard of COM radios working intermittently depending on airport and can't suggest anything to correct this. Does he have any addon AI traffic program installed? If none of the above works or fixes his problem(s), recommend he simply uninstall/reinstall. Hope this helps.Best regards,JimYoung
June 23, 200619 yr Author Hi Jim. Thanks for the suggestions. We did all of those already. It turns out that he had Traffic 2004 installed and then installed EditVoicePack. He opted to use the accelerated voices. Evidently they caused an intermittent problem. I read the Help that Lars had at EditVoicePack. He mentioned the Evp_Accelerated.gvp file. I asked him to remove it and guess what - all works GREAT now! We checked everything even the Codecs to no avail. Removing that file fixed it. Thanks and best regards, Bob.
