Pilatus PC-12

Featured Replies

Hi all,Are there any payware PC-12 besides the one from F1? I currently own the one from F1 and find that system modeling is a bit lacking comparing to the x-treme kingair. What are your opinions on that?

You are talking two entirely different eras of real aircraft development. The King Air in real life requires much more attention to systems than the PC-12. The PC-12 has a very simple to use approach to cockpit design and automated systems. Flight1 did capture the "feel" of flying a PC-12 quite well as they have been frequently complemented by real pilots that have flown the PC-12 including myself.

I really think the Flight 1 offering is the best one out there.Rob

Well. Not a real pilot yet myself. I did bought and watched the cockpit video of a PC-12 from Flight Video Production. Need less to say, it has a lot more buttons to push.

Check fuses... not modeled in MSFSOxygen... not modeled in MSFSECS system... not modeled in MSFSFlight1 did incorporate two generator switches although this actually is not modeled in MSFS for a single engine aircraft. You can look at the switches in the VC during preflight and even click over them. These are automated systems in the PC-12 so setting cabin altitude relative to what your cruise altitude is and setting the ECS switch to "auto" is all you do in the real aircraft. It really is that simple. This is probably one of the lowest workload aircraft for the pilot, it is just amazing what the thing will haul, the speed envelope it will operate within and cost of operation compared to anything coming close to its capabilities. They're sold out BTW, if you wanted a real one, you'd have to wait in line.

What about the modes of the Autopilot?FD, YD, SOFT RIDE, HALF BANK, IAS. Are they modeled? What about modeling of the SDBY BUS switch? Can you do the the preflight checklist?regards

FD = modeledYD = modeledWorking switches but not modeled due to MSFS limitations:SOFT RIDE,in reality this is a second yaw damper and while you do feel its effect in flight you wouldn't notice anything different in the simHALF BANK, IAS, no provision for it in MSFS, and yes it could have been custom modeled like some other aircraft have been for MSFS not utilizing FS variables but then you get into the inaccuracies that can be caused by doing that and the resulting incompatibility with GoFlight/ACP and other peripheral hardware. For a simulation at this price point it does a fantastic job of representing the aircraft for hobby simmers as well as real pilots. All the switches on the overhead panel are simulated and you can run through them just like a real checklist. You do have to turn on the main battery before external power (external power is not simulated in MSFS). The secondary generator is also there as dummy switches with their respective lighting as MSFS doesn't support dual generators on a single engine aircraft.I will note that with the configuration utility for the PC12 you can set the IAS mode to allow for a type of autothrottle which you can set to maintain a given speed when in level flight. This is one of the FS variables at use but is not representative of the real aircraft so I leave that off. As any pilot does know you can set your pitch trim for a desired speed and the aircraft will pretty much maintain that till reaching your cruising altitude, then engage the altitude hold. Most decents do not utilize the IAS hold and instead use VS.

Hello, and thanks for the answer. As I see it, the biggest problem with the overhead panel is the SDBY BUS switch / simulation. The checklist says:8. STBY BUS switch ON9. TEST LAMP switch PUSH. Check overhead panel indicators on.But nothing happens! So you have to modify the checklist with:8. BAT 1 switch ONEven if this a MSFS limitation (is it?), the checklist should be modified. And there are others problems with checklist.Like:17. ECS switch OFFThe switch can
