June 25, 200619 yr Hi folks, a while back I posted about having problems trying to start FS - it will hang, and usually result in me having to reboot my system.I can manage to get it to fire up if I delete the FS9.cfg, but I have to reset everything :(However the problem still continues - the next time I try to run it, it will hang on start-up. As far as I know I have no virus's etc on my ssytem, I have a number of scanners. Now, its not every day that I try to run FS, and the only thing that runs inbetween is the virus software, and I sometimes use a programme called CClean to remove temp internet filesWhy would this problem still keep arising? June 25, 200619 yr Hello :)You might want to look at any 3rd party add-ons that you might have installed for your FS9 - like scenery, aircraft etc. What was the latest thing you added - if it was scenery then disable it from the menu, if it was an aircraft then remove it.As a start just create a folder outside your FS9 installation. Cut & paste *ALL* your aircraft (including any aliased panels & sounds) into this folder (ie. move them from FS9/Aircraft to the new folder). Move them all - *EXCEPT* the default Cessna 172.Now load the sim with just the default Cessna in the Aircraft folder...if it all goes well then at least you know its an aircraft or panel thats being naughty and will help narrow things down.If not you could try disabling all 3rd-party scenery and see how the sim loads with only the default scenery.Since you suspect your anti-virus program: disconnect from the internet, disable your anti-virus and then load the sim.The above methods worked when I had a similar problem to yours. The freeware FlightSim Manager also helped me (specially the scenery-scanner). Here is the authors website:http://www.ranainside.com/software_flightsim_manager.htmlAnd you can download it from here:http://www.ranainside.com/download_now.html**** As always ...ensure you have backups before playing around with your FS9 files**** :) Good luck!
June 25, 200619 yr Author Thanks for the suggestions, I'll give them a go, however, I haven't installed any scenery or aircraft in months. I think the last thing i installed was the UK2000 Gatwick scenery around the time of release and had no problems for a few months after that.Any cheers for the ideas :) Alaister Kay
