Not sure if I'm doing this right and got my wires crossed but here's my question. I'm using the Carenado Piper Malibu Mirage and when I advance the throttles for takeoff the prop rpm advances too even though the prop lever is already full forward and maxed. The prop rpm instrument shows a low rpm even with the lever maxed unless I move the throttles forward. When I'm in the air and throttle back to a low MP setting the prop rpm will also drop automatically. Are the throttles and prop coupled or tied in together somehow...does the throttle affect the prop rpm? By the way I'm starting with the engines already running when I start the sim...am working on learning to start from cold and dark though but noticed this and wanted to ask. Thanks.

It is normal behaviour. When the engine is at idle or at a low throttle setting, its power output is not enough to bring the props up to the set RPM, even if the prop is set to min pitch by the prop governor.

 

Also, with constant speed props, when you want to...

...increase engine power (e.g. climb) you first set the new RPM then the new MP. Readjust if necessary.

...decrease engine power (e.g. descent) you first set the new MP then the new RPM. Readjust if necessary.
