HDR monitor required for HDR?

Recommended Posts

So, looking through a bunch of threads, it seems like the HDR referenced in P3D (and X-Plane) might not really be “HDR” as in high-dynamic-range rendering? Ultimately my question boils down to this: would the Acer Predator XB321HK 32" be a decent monitor? I preordered an RTX 2080Ti and am looking to also update my 1080p 27” monitor. Can’t go up more than the 32 for desk space, and I’m trying to figure out if this UHD 4K panel is also HDR, seems like it might not be? So, let’s just say I’m confused. It seems like a decent panel, but does the (if it does) lack of HDR matter for enabling HDR in the sims?

TIA for thoughts.

You do not need an HDR monitor to enable HDR in the sims.

Cool, thanks for that thread. My search-fu isn’t as good as it could be. Looks like a 60hz panel with 4K UHD should be fine.

Should be. I am not sure how great that panel is. Personally, I would look for a panel with a wide color gamut/space!
