MCE+PF3 not working in 2770, FO does not reply to ATC

Featured Replies

Hello, after installing version 2770 of MCE I cannot get the FO to reply to ATC or handle communications in any aircraft.

I read in the forum this may be related to the fact that MCE cannot read captions.ini, this file is created properly.

Pf3_mce.ini is set to Active=1, close captions are on or off (does not matter) and voice set id is off, atc call sing is set to "delta airlines" "8044" heavy tickbox checked.

During flight I see the pf3_mce.ini line Logged=x increasing with every line pf3 issues, clearance.ini is showing the atc messages, all is well. I would rule pf3 out.

MCE, when checking the mce page "ATC" under VHF contact "Not established" appears despite asking FO to connect to ground, him dialing the correct freq and me being able to talk to the ground.

Everything else is correctly shown like callsign down to alternate. It would seem that MCE is not reading the VHF freq of aircrafts so it cannot tell if connected or not to a station.

Any idea what would cause MCE not to recognize VHF contact, thus FO not being able to answer to ATC?

Any help or idea would be appreciated! Thanks!

Thanks

I'm confused.

All these messages are aimed at Westjet 8043, another traffic. Your Fo will only reoly to messages starting with Delta 8043. Or did you change your own callsign to "Westjet 8043"?

My fault. The old clearance.log changed when I did a new test flight as "WestJet 8043". I pasted the latest. This flight is without traffic, all communication is aimed at my flight, FO should have replied. He did so only one when asked "Please reply to ATC" and he replied with the callsign "WestJet 8043"

What's the callsin showing up in MCE user interface <ATC> tab?

Suggest you set "pf3.exe" to run as administrator, and double check it has kept the last assigned airline and flight number after restarting it.

Eventually, use "Westjet 8043" as your call-sign in PF3 settings, ask Fo "confirm call-sign" to see which one he got and see if he replies automatically.

I assume at no point did you say "I have the radio", otherwise he won't be replying automatically.

PF3.exe is set to run as administrator, UAC is off, fsx.exe is set to run as administrator.

I started the flight saying "you handle ATC", FO reply "I handle communications", when asked to confirm callsign he confirms correctly.

Can it be related to the PTT key? I set PF3 to chime when it recognizes an input, mce does not give any command to pf3. Nor recognizes if it is connected to tower or any station. On ATC page in mce it says "VHF connection not established". It reads the freq correctly, because when tower is dialed already in and FO is asked to dial in the tower is states already connected to tower.

PTT key is set to standard "ESC". Does MCE require another key?

You can ignore that "VHF contact not established as that is mainly used with native FSX Atc, and possibly not updated when using PF3 or RC4.

Try disabling the ESC key.

I think you would be better off, setting Windows UAC back to default 2 notches up the slider and just setting the FS related exe to run as admin.

Disabling UAC leads to all sorts of weird thing happening, especially when using the registry hacks out there on the Internet.

Here is another example about what can go wrong with disabling UAC.

Unlike under Windows XP, you can't really have full control on the machine in Windows 10.

Everything you need to know regarding MCE + PF3 integration should be here:

Hi Gerald, I fiddled with the PTT key since last post and MCE set it by itself to "CAPS LOCK". Asked me to restart PF3 and voila it works!!!

I tried to set the PTT key to another one like "`" or "O" from the default "ESC". It seems that for me only the "CAPS LOCK" gives the functionality of MCE and PF3 back.

Many thanks for the support and this awesome program!

Cheers!
