September 13, 20187 yr This week we tour the Orkney Islands off the north coast of Scotland. This plan was originally done in 2015, but I have lengthened it slightly. We start at Inverness, with a quick stop at Dornoch before we join the original plan at Wick. Next we head north across to the islands, where our route will include the shortest scheduled flight in the world between Westray and Papa Westray, done in the RW in an Islander. After stops on just about every runway on the islands, we'll finish at Kirkwall. Flight plans and even a short narrative (from 2015) can be downloaded here. Aircraft The plan is 186nm so there's no hurry. A Britten-Norman Islander would be ideal, as this flies the commercial routes around the islands. A Twin Otter or a C182 would also be good choices. There are some shortish runways, around 2000ft. I will be flying a small building (those who were around last week will know what I mean). Scenery Orbx Scotland will be the ideal scenery package. I believe most or all of the airports are included in P3D though. Particulars Date and time: Saturday 15th September 2018, 1800 UTC.
