No. Add-ons like VOXATC and Pilot2ATC are coded to rely on the OS speech recognition. The SR in Windows 10 is actually pretty good, in my experience better than both Apple's Siri and Amazon's Alexa. But you have to set it up and train it correctly. Here's some tips for improving The VOXATC SR (although with slight modification they will also work with P2ATC and other add-ons that use the OS SR). 1. Make sure that you exactly follow the OS instructions on how to set up the microphone and train the Win 10 SR. 2. Open the built-in Windows 10 SR applet and turn on the OS level SR so that it's is always "listening". Note that this should be "off" when using VOXATC. Open Notepad, begin speaking common ATC phrases and words and then examine the results. Start with the phonetic alphabet and numbers. 3. With my desktop microphone, I saw that the SR had problems with words that begin with the letters G and D. I used the SR applet to record those specific words like gate and descend. The more words and phrases that you test in this manner, the better that the SR will perform. 4. If none of this helps, create a new speech profile and disable the original profile. Start over. 5. One can also open your previous VOXATC custom speech training txt file with Notepad and use it for hints as to phraseology. 6. Other people have noted that replacing the Realtek sound drivers with the generic Microsoft drivers also helps. This is just a short summary. If you have any questions, just ask.
