August 22, 200619 yr I am having a problem with FE.dll errors at certain airports. I read on one of the forums that 8-bit textures for AI are not compatible with FS9. Is this true? I have not found any supporting documentation. I changed two AI planes which has 8 bit textures to DXT3 using DXTBmp software. I hope this will fix my problem. I will test it out tonight. I used FileMon last night and noticed that one of the AI planes landed when the DX15.exe (which is the error window). This particular plane has 8-bit texture. I changed to dxt3. I guess when panning to view the textures FS tries to load and fails. Any ideas here? Also, I saw in Filemon FS9 was accessing c:FS PATHFlight Simulator 9COM10 the com1-100 i think. Result was NOT FOUND. Any ideas here? Also does anyone know where to find the result codes for filemon. I checked their website and forums but the links were dead. Thanks for your help.
August 23, 200619 yr Sorry no solutions, but as I have CTD's caused by FE.DLL myself at certain airports (Cloud9 Kdca & Glasgow Extreme), I would really like to get this problem solved. So I'm here to bump. Rune B.
August 23, 200619 yr Author Problem solved!I used Filemon and Flightsim Manager and discovered several missing effect files, missing gauge files, missing model.cfgs and other problems that definitely attribute to the fe.dll.I cleaned up everything last night.Per several other posts, FS will keep searching for missing files which eats CPU cycles. This is sooooo true. I was getting better performance after I replaced 1 effect file at an airport where I was getting the dll crashes. If you haven't downloaded the flightsim manager program (freeware) it is a BIG help. Lots of other goodies also. Thanks!
