Land Detail Texture s check box??

Featured Replies

Does anyone know the specific purpose of the Land Detail Textures checbox? That is beside the obvious intent of its title. I cannot see any difference with it checked or unchecked.Dick near 5G8

Set your water settings to one of the "1.x" values and check again.

Same thing as "Terrain Detail: Land Only" in FS9. Though it does seem a bit buggy with the new water. For me it's a must to have on, along with at least bilinear filtering. :)"Let me help you out. You're cleared to taxi any way you can to any runway you see."

That was it. I believed that the clarity I was getting was less than the 1.2meter/pixel stuff I had done in FS9, which is quite impressive but a pain to do and does not always respect the underlying mesh. The logic of needing the water set to one of the higher values may escape a lot of people, like me. Would be nice to maybe force that slider to the first position when the Detail box is checked. Thanks,Dick near 5G8

It was explained soon after the release of the demo that there is a bug that prevents the high resolution terrain from showing when using any of the 2.X shaders for water. It's fixed for the retail release (or so I'm assuming).Randall

You assume correctly.
