PFC Throttle unit dropped from Windows 10

Recommended Posts

Every few months  my PFC throttle unit turns me into Stressed Eric. This Xmas break was no exception - great timing as usual.  I planned a flight yesterday, set it up, pushed back, and the throttle unit was unresponsive

There have been a few Windows updates recently and since these updates my throttle unit is no longer being recognised by Windows.  It doesn't appear in the USB Game Controllers list - although it does appear in the Hardware Devices list with a yellow triangle (I think error Code 10?)  The warning message just said device unresponsive.  It also doesn't appear in the PFC GUI utility (but I guess that makes sense if windows doesn't pick it up)

So I went through the usual routine of unplugging it and reconnecting it.  The connect/disconnect audio sounds as per usual.

Not sure if this is a USB issue.  I tried different USB ports too.    I haven't yet tried a different computer though

But any other trouble shooting notes would be appreciated.  I've had this problem with W10 updates before and the only thing which solved the problem was to reinstall Windows entirely.  Something I definitely want to avoid at all costs as it's just taken me two weeks to get P3D 4.4 sorted out and stable with all my addons.

cheers

erich

Just check that the device manager power settings for USB are disabled, so that Windows doesn't switch them off. Also check your power options profile in Windows

Hi Jude

I disabled those yesterday.

I think my power optons are set to performance.  Is there anything specifically I need to check other than that?

There is a Windows 8 Megathread on this issue. There are some registry entries you can try setting.

Is there not a windows reset option which allows you to install core Windows files while leaving everything else intact?  Like installing P3D Client only?

Picking the bones out of 6 year old software thread just doesn't seem like it'll render much help - but thanks for the link.
