I see no difference running FS or any other program. If I had it to do over, I would get the 2x1gb, and used the old 512s in another machine or sell them. Better to get some value out of the old 512s than no value from the new pair.Another program you can use is Sandra from http://www.sisoftware.net/It will evaluate and give performance tweak tips. It's shareware, but no time limit. More advanced analysis is turned off in free version, but it will detect if your modules are unbuffered.
