August 7, 200619 yr I got a question about how the thunderstorms are modeled in FSX.or actually a few sub questions :):1. Will lightning now finally illuminate everything (ground, buildings, trees, AI planes etc.)? instead of just the aircraft the user is flying Cause in 2004 this also was one of the things that annoyed me big time especially when flying at night.2. Are the thundersounds now directly related to the lightningbolts? cause in 2004 thunder seems the be randomly and completely not in relation with any lightningbolt.3. Is the clear skies lightning bug fixed? I mean Ive had several flights where I flew over an area that supposed to have massive thunderstorms probably an MCS or MCC, and I only see a few CB's with some small cumulus and large areas of clear skies where lightning bolts appear out of nothing.4. final question. Will Thunderstorms finally look like thunderstorms? I mean everyone around here has probably seen a thunderstorm atleast once in their life and if you see a T-storm approaching it does not look like FS at all, T-storms suppose to look scary and dark like this:ok this was from a severe thunderstorm here in the Netherlands, I don't expect shelfclouds or wallclouds or whatever but just the colouring being a little more like this http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...under-cloud.jpgphotographed on July 17, 2004 in Enschede, The Netherlands. Photo by John KerstholtPlease don't take this the wrong way, I love how you guys finally took care of the weatherengine in 2004 but this is just something I miss and something I like to see in the next version or maybe the one after that :) :-waveshocky :-hahhttp://img7.exs.cx/img7/5379/Banner21.jpg
August 7, 200619 yr Holy *&@(^! That would defineitely scare me if I saw that coming through our back door!Anyhow, you raise some good points - although I do not agree that the lightning/thunder sounds are random. I think the thunder sound is ties to the lightning but I might be off on that one. From what I understand the weather system only got "minor" fixes and updates (probably to coincide with the new mission system) other than that not much new in FSX.But HOPEFULLY enough of us will send an email to tell-microsoft or whatever the address is and we can get a BRAND NEW beautiful weather system in FSXI... just think they'll be starting FSXI in just months! lol

August 8, 200619 yr Well after your reply I checked FS again, and the thundersounds might not be random, but still not sure, however there is no difference between distant thunder and a storm that is right over your head, which makes it sound as if thundersounds are played randomly. And yeah I sure hope they will improve the weather system in the next version, as that is what I care most about.:DAnyone got some more info on these 4 points? :) :-waveshocky :-hah http://img7.exs.cx/img7/5379/Banner21.jpg
August 8, 200619 yr Hi,Gordon Bennett! That is an amaazzing photo. If FS made storms like that to fly through..... I think the monitor would fall off the desktop.Andy.
