Help please! with RealWorldScenery Florida

Featured Replies

Can someone help me please with getting Real World Scenery.com Florida working? I bought the whole set, directly from rewalworldscenery.com    They come as four separate download packs, with each one labeled for the part of the state it covers e.g. RWS-FloridaCentral.  For each part of the state, it downloads several .7z files that are 2 GB filesize each (the last one in each series is a bit smaller), plus an .exe file for that part of the state.

When I tried to install each area using its accompanying .exe file, the executable does some extraction but only .bgl files, and puts them only in the main folder.  It does not create the \scenery subfolder or the \texture subfolder.  Also, it appears the downloads do not include any texture files, only .bgl files.

Has anyone been able to get these downloaded .7z zipped files to extract such that they create the set of folders and files with scenery and texture files that actually work?  I'm using P3D v4.5 but I guess any flight sim would not be able to run these with only .bgl files and without having the \scenery and \texture subfolders.

When I tried running this scenery on P3D, it locked up and wouldn't do anything except repeatedly display the Error message on a black rectangular background - it was so bad that I had to do a Restart on my computer to get back to where I could restart P3D and unclick that scenery before loading any flight.

I tried posting my request for help on the realworldscenery.com Forum but since Aug 16 (2019) up to date my post still shows as "Awaiting moderation".  I tried to email the vendor at the email address on the website, but got back an error message that the email was undeliverable.  I've sent a message to them via Facebook Messenger from their Facebook page, several days ago ... but got no reply to my appeal for help.  Last night I posted on their Facebook page ... still waiting.

I Googled for "problems with realworldscenery florida" and didn't find anything much; nothing along the lines of my problem so I'm assuming that by now simmers who bought it must have somehow figured out how to get it to work, otherwise there would have been a lot of complaints and (potential) solutions searchable on the web.  I'm a RW private pilot using the sim to stay sharp on maneuvers and procedures, BUT I have to admit I'm not a highly skilled sim software expert, so ... (since the vendor apparently isn't responding to support requests right now) ... I'm hoping someone else was able to figure this out how to get this set of scenery for Florida installed properly and working properly playing nicely with P3D, and would be kind enough to share with me the secret for how to do this!

.. And if you've been patient enough with me to read all the way down to here ... MANY thanks!

AVSIM has a forum specifically for photo scenery - https://www.avsim.com/forums/forum/434-photo-scenery-support-forum/.  Personally, I have photo scenery just above the default scenery.  Above that I place any airports that I might buy for that State or area.  If I get DD MiamiX, I'll put that even above Photo Scenery.
