[Resolved] Preview Settings - two questions

Featured Replies

Two questions about the "Preview Settings" mode.

1.  Clicking the "Preview Settings" button is supposed to load a special preview scenario which opens you up at KECP in the R22 about 300 ft up and looking back at one of the runways.  In my case, clicking the "Preview Settings" button sees me somewhere out over the ocean, surrounded by water, and not in the R22.  Rotating this view through a full 360 degrees confirms nothing but water and KECP is nowhere in sight.  I can "resolve" this situation by using the Observer views from the main P3D "Views" menu (right click menu). Choosing one of the observer views from the sub-menu does take me to the correct, relevant observer view as chosen.  Is anyone else experiencing this "ocean" scenario, and is there a way to fix it?  If it helps, could this be related my using Ezdok v3?

2.  When in Preview Settings mode, how does one inject an AI plane from their list?  I've read that it can be done, but did not see anything about this in the video tutorial.

Forgive me if these questions have been asked/answered before. But, I searched and couldn't find anything.

Regards,

Freddy

Hi Freddy,

1) Super strange. All AILRP does is load an scenario at that location which is the default used by P3D when loading the F22 in the default scene.

Do you see this issue when loading the default P3D situation?

2) If you use the expert interface, a list of AI models, select one and click preview or manipulate any of the settings controls.

Hi Freddy,

I have another user with the same symptoms as your first point. I am investigating possible causes.

Interesting.

You asked if I see this issue when loading the default P3D situation.  In my sim, I have set up my own default startup scenario, at my home GA airport, to load when the sim starts.  If you want me to revert to the default P3D startup scenario and then run a test on AILRP Preview Settings, then let me know ... otherwise I'll await the results of your own investigations after another user reported the same symptoms.

Something which came to mind ... it's probably not related, but I'll mention it just in case ... I have already stated that I run Ezdok v3.  I also have some A2A aircraft and they simulate an aircraft walkaround sequence which initially doesn't work correctly if you have Ezdok. Thankfully, a workaround / fix is available which involves editing the [CameraDefinition.x] section of the aircraft.cfg file. There's an A2A PDF document available which outlines this fix.  I do not know how AILRP sets up the initial view for its Preview Settings scenario, but if it relies on a HotKeySelect=x parameter, in a similar way to how the A2A walkaround scenario does, then, as an Ezdok user, could the issue we're experiencing here be related? Does the other user who's experiencing this issue use Ezdok?  Although, this said, I'd guess there would be other users out their using AILRP with Ezdok; and if that's the case then it would be logical to expect more reports of this issue rather than just myself and one other user.

Further to this, I read in this forum that once in Preview Settings mode, you can select different Observer views and cycle through them pressing the letter "A". I have that mapped as a view cycle button in Ezdok.  Again, could AILRP be "pressing" that button as it goes to load the scenario?  If yes, then perhaps it is causing Ezdok to cycle it's own view and that view just happens to be the Ezdok World Camera view (which, in my case, can take me to a view of the ocean).  Hmmm.

These suggestions could be way off the mark.  But they're worth mentioning in case they cause a thought bubble.

Regarding injecting AI planes from my own list in to the Preview Settings mode ... use the expert interface, select an AI model from the list and click preview or manipulate any of the settings controls ... roger that. Thanks. Now that you've mentioned it, I seem to remember the Tutorial Video possibly did touch on this.

I ran some quick tests.

  • No, I don't think this is related to Ezdok cycling views. A quick test by pressing Shift-A (which would cycle the view in reverse, back to the previous view), did not show the KECP scenario ... still ocean.
  • To clarify, I initially said I was not in the R22.  The Ezdok control panel shows that it has loaded in my Ezdok camera settings for the R22, confirming that I am indeed in the R22.  It seems that I simply cannot see the controls or rotor blades of the R22 in the dark of night, making me initially believe I was not in the R22.
  • I used an Observer menu to go to KECP (this does work).  Once there, I tried the sim's Scenario - Reset menu option (CTRL+;).  This put me back out in to the middle of the ocean.
  • I changed AILRP to EXPERT mode and injected AI planes from my list.  The AI planes I choose do appear in the scenario. However, each time I inject an AI plane, I get an error message scrolling across the bottom of AILRP, in red font.  It says "Exception received: 3".
  • Sorry, I did not reset to the default P3D start scenario and try that.

I hope this helps.

This can happen if you have AVG or AVAST which blocks the SimConnect connection to P3D. Create an execption list for AILRP.

I am still investigating regarding AILRP preview scenario. I suspect the global camera I installe is failing under 4.5 HF2 under certain conditions, causing this behavior so looking for alternatives.

Freddy,

Can you check if my global camera is installed correctly inside your cameras configuration? this should be inside of C:\users\yourname\appdata\roaming\Lockheed Martin\Cameras.cfg

There should be an entry as this:

[CameraDefinition.x]
Title=AILRP overview position
Guid={67CFDFFC-E78E-4445-Z317-36A6888AECA8}
Description=AI Lights Reborn Effects Calibration Camera
Origin=Fixed
SnapPbhAdjust=Swivel
SnapPbhReturn=False
PanPbhAdjust=Swivel
PanPbhReturn=False
Track=none
ShowAxis=No
AllowZoom=Yes
InitialZoom= 0.6
SmoothZoomTime=1
ShowWeather=Yes
XyzAdjust=True
Transition=No
ShowLensFlare=True
ClipMode=Spot
PitchPanRate=30
HeadingPanRate=75
PanAcceleratorTime=0
cyclehidden=Yes
Category=Observer

Yes, it is there.  The compare tool in Notepad++ confirms the entry in my Cameras.cfg file matches yours exactly, line for line, GUID and all.

Ok, send me an email to [email protected]

I want to send you a file for testing.

No change with the replacement scenario.  But I did have some limited success with a test of my own.  I have sent a reply to your email.

Freddy,

I been working with EZdok developers and I also acquired Ezdok V3 and we concluded this is not caused by Ezdok V3.

But I think I know what is happening. Can you confirm your P3D settings:

TGshf9l.png

My settings are as above. Can you check if you have your Latitude set the other way around? I was able to replicate the issue by selecting Southern and Western!!.

A patch is now available that should correct this despite of what user setting they have. Be sure to update to 1.12.7

Simbol,

The AILRP program self-updated to 1.012.7 today.  My Latitude and Longitude settings in P3D are set to "Southern" and "Eastern".  With version 1.012.7, clicking the Preview Settings button now correctly sends my sim to KECP.  The patch/fix worked.  Well done.  Nice find.

Regards,

Freddy

I’m all fixed too Simbol!! I can confirm my long/lat settings were South and East.  Thnx for the effort on this, much appreciated!!
