Pinch and zoom stopped working (resolved)

Featured Replies

Guys,

A couple of days ago I realized the "pinch and zoom" feature in the map page of the GTN750 is not working (used to work).  Not sure if it happened after the last GTN750 update or not.  Single touch (pan) still works.  Multi-touch in other applications (browser, Microsoft Word, etc.) still works.

Tried another multi-touch monitor with the same results: multi-touch works on other apps, but not on the RealityXP GTN750 add-on to Xplane 11.   Windows System Report indicates Windows thinks a 10-point multitouch device is connected.

Anybody else out there is experiencing the same problem?

Hi,

The 'pinch in/out' feature is using the mouse scroll wheel. Whenever XP11 sends our window a mouse wheel up/down event, this gets interpreted as a pinch in/out event in the GTN.

I didn't know pinching a real touch screen was actually working with our GTN in XP11 though!?!

Is your touchscreen driver actually sending mouse wheel up/down events when you are pinching in/out?

Is XP11 translating the pinch event into mouse wheel?

Wow!  Did I *DREAM* it was once responding to pinch-and-zoom???  Now you've got me wondering about my memory... let me play around a bit with the touch-to-mouse translation options... maybe I had something weird enabled (such as Windows driver Test Signing) which I reset...

ON THE OTHER HAND I observed the same behavior with Garmin's G600/GTN750 trainer... so probably what affects one also affects the other.

I shall report.  Merçi bien!!!

Not really.

The GTN running standalone does its own 'capture the mouse' stuff as it is notified by Windows directly.

The GTN in our add-on receives the 'mouse event' from the host simulator only, which means there are 2 layers instead of 1:

Windows -> Simuator -> add-on.

Got it to work!!! - the touch panel has to BE THE WINDOWS PRIMARY DISPLAY.  If it is, both your GTN add-on and Garmin's standalone trainer respond to pinch and zoom.  If it is NOT the primary display neither responds to pinch - just to single touches (pan).

P.S. Still waiting for the G500.... 🙂

Additional information: according to a thread I recently read, the need to have the multi-touch display be designated the Windows primary display happened after the October 2019 Windows update.  Before that, multi-touch worked on a touch-sensitive display even if it was not designated as the primary.  Now, only the "primary display" will translate pinch and zoom as mouse wheel, etc.  Bummer!
