Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas One anomaly in RB3D

Featured Replies

Greetings!

Set your clock back 100 years for this question.....sort of.  I have been flying RedBaron3D online for about 22 years.  I recently purchased by suggestion a Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas One.

So far, even parking the programming files in Startup, I lose the button profile.  So each Saturday, it takes about 3 minutes to reset it for our Saturday 4PM EST RB3D we have been playing every weekend for 12 years.  I stuck a paperclick in a button slot to keep it from activating due to it being near my right hand index finger knuckle operating my trigger.  Otherwise, for this game, that one button could not be reprogrammed from dropping a bomb with each touch....not good for my bombing requirements.....Bombing the enemy's selected targets is how the war is won.....dogfighting is to protect bombing planes, or to keep the enemy from bombing my facilities.

But the real problem now is that my plane now intermittently starts jerking out of my control which makes dogfighting and bombing much more difficult.  I went through a total unplug of USB connections, switching to a different USB plug-in, restarting and replugging.  I swear it seemed to work a short time..until it didn't.

My hope is that after someone in here quits laughing at me, they will say I only need to do X, Y and/orZ to fix the (hardware, software, dumminess, etc.) thing to get back to the game.

Otherwise, this nice feeling joystick replacing my 12 year old Logitech at only twice the price is very pleasant and when programmed, lots of convenient buttons.

Glad to find your website and forum.

Salute!

I do not own RedBaron3D or the Thrustmaster Joystick (may someday soon though) but I had similar issues with my Saitek X Cyborg Joystick with FSX/P3D.  I was calibrating my joystick using the FSX/P3D setup program when you first start up the programs.  I found that you should make sure the drivers are up-to-date and to calibrate the joystick using the joysticks program for calibrating joysticks, not the one you might use in the Red Baron setup or FSX/P3D.  Also, if you see an option for Raw Input and Direct Input in the settings for Red Baron, select Direct Input.  I found that works much better than the default Raw Input.  In P3D that is located in the P3D settings under Controls and then Other.

You might post your question in the RedBaron support forum too to see what others using this game have done.

I did a Google search for 'how to program the thrustmaster tflight hotas for red baron' and got several good hits.  The best I found were at the following links - http://www.theaerodrome.com/forum/showthread.php?t=63644 and http://www.redbaron3d.net/.  Hope this helps.

Hi Jim

I had not gotten a heads up on your post, so I am glad I checked in.  I appreciate your feedback and I will give it all a run-through.

If you would like to test fly the war this Saturday, I am happy to help with any setup issues and view setup hints, etc.  I have a fledgling website after wiping the old basic site...same url.   redbaron3dofficialsite.com    The forum is quite quiet as the small club comms via email.  My email is on the first page if you care to use it.

Regards

Earnest
